• Designed for locals and visitors alike, this indie artist’s guide to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada uncovers the favourite spots and hidden gems that make Edmonton fine!
Now in its fourth edition, this guide has helped countless folks explore the best of our fine prairie city: art, food, cozy bars, shops, river valley walks, and yes, even the mall (you know the one).
Pick a few things from the list and you have got yourself a perfect weekend, whether you are playing tourist in your own city or visiting for a spell. You will see the river valley mentioned often (we cannot help it), along with plenty of spots that show just how much Edmonton loves to eat. Every view, shop, eatery and art space that made the cut was chosen for what it says about the city’s creative, independent culture.
Edmonton is Fine started as a crowdsourced paper map in 2017, made after Lonely Planet basically told the world not to bother visiting Edmonton. Rude! The locals knew better—and their recommendations filled every inch of that first print run.
This guide is made by many local contributions, and is for anyone curious about what makes this city tick. Do you have a favourite place of your own? Contribute your local spots and they might just make it into the next edition.
Vikki Wiercinski is an artist and designer who grew up in Edmonton and did all her adulting here too. She studied (and later taught) at the U of A, made public art, ran an art+design craft fair, and walked the river valley paths more times than she can count. Once, she biked home across the High Level Bridge while the northern lights crackled overhead.
Naomi Brierley is a website developer and designer in Edmonton and she coded this whole website up like freakin' champ. Her favourite Edmonton things are the cozy coffee shops and the magpies, magpies everywhere!
